Metaphysical Life. . .
It's all metaphysical (greater than physical)! We keep deluding ourselves that all we are is what's here in our physical bodies. But as Shakespeare said in Hamlet, "There is more between Heaven and Earth, my dear Horatio, than is dreamt of in thine experience." Poets and bards have been telling us this forever. William Wordsworth told us our non-physical life was more important and real than our physical lives when he said: "Life is but a sleep and a forgetting." Ah! Forgetting what, exactly? Perhaps in life we forget Who We Really Are. Remember the lyrics of "We are Spirits in a material world"? How about, "We have to believe we are Magic, nothing can stand in our way"? We also forget the most essential thing, as the Beatles told us, "All you need is love."
I learned that there is "more here" than what I'd been taught when I was 12 years old. While my mother was dying in the hospital, I had a visitation from her: she appeared in her ethereal (non-physical) form in my bedroom at home and told me good-bye. At that age, and at that time, there wasn't much information available to help me interpret my experience. But of one thing I was sure: I had experienced it; it was real. It took many years and lots of reading, pondering, and tuning in to the All to fully understand the nature of what had occurred and to put it into the context of my life. And then I had a Near Death Experience....
Death. . .the ultimate metaphysical experience
Death really is the final frontier! We haven't conquered it yet! It's really the ultimate in metaphysical (greater than physical) experience, the ultimate transformation/transition from one dimension or reality to another. In 1985 I had a Near-Death Experience (NDE) or, as some of us say, a Death Experience. I was in a car accident, a head-on collision. I was suddenly floating about 25 feet above the ground, looking down at my car. I saw a tunnel filled with bright Light and I moved through it and arrived at a place of amazing and timeless love and joy. I saw relatives and friends who had died many years before, including my mother, and they were all doing GREAT! I basked in the total Unconditional Love of God and I spoke at length with a group of Beings of Light, including magical Lion Beings, gentle, loving guardians of humanity. They told me all the Secrets of the Universe and all the Secrets of Myself—a lot of which I later forgot! And then I was suddenly back here on good old 3-dimensional Earth (and NOT very happy about it!) and I had to integrate everything that I experienced into my everyday life. And as the Grateful Dead (!) so aptly put it, "What a long, strange trip it's been!"

Here's the video I made about my Near Death Experience, followed by more about what I learned from "dying."
Some people who haven't had an NDE dismiss these experiences, saying they are "just" the result of a chemical imbalance, a lack of oxygen to the brain, a hallucination. And maybe that's all true. Most of us who have had NDE's don't really care what the scientific explanation is. The experience is real, just as real as our everyday three-dimensional lives. As a result of these experiences, our lives have been changed in a dramatic way, we have a better understanding of ourselves, Life, and the Universe, and it doesn't matter what the "clinical reason" is.
As a result of my NDE, my priorities became radically different. I stopped caring about many of the things I'd cared about before, suddenly finding them to be superficial and uninteresting. Instead, I started caring more about things that hadn't mattered before. I became less sarcastic and defensive and more compassionate of myself and other people. I learned not to sweat the small stuff, and recognized that most of it is small stuff! Over time, I let go of all the fear. I laughed more and loved more. I discovered that I have an ability to help people heal themselves and realign themselves with their soul energy and purpose, and because my psychic/intuitive abililties increased, I have an ability to "see" more and "know" more about people and situations.
So here's what I learned from "dying":
- We are far more than our physical selves, we are metaphysical, multidimensional beings.
- We are powerful beyond our wildest dreams and are limited only by our own belief in our limitations.
- We are of God and God loves us unconditionally; it is only we who judge and punish ourselves, not God.
- There is no Heaven or Hell except what we create in our own minds and hearts. Heaven is living in unconditional love; Hell is living without it, living in the energy of fear.
- Our relationships are mirrors of what is happening inside us, and our emotional reactions to situations show us what we need to heal, resolve, or forgive.
- When we die, it is only our bodies that die, and we put them aside as we would a coat we no longer need in the warm weather. Our spirit, our essence, continues on. We go back Home... to God Source...to Who and What we really are.
- We have to stop living in fear, guilt, judgment, and victimhood, and start taking responsibility for ourselves, truly loving and respecting ourselves and others.
- We need to heal ourselves on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels...and there are more and more tools available to help us do that every day.
- All we need to do to start moving in the right direction is set the intention to release all that is not of love.
- We have to give up our belief in, and fear of, lack and just know that there is enough—of everything—to go around. We can all thrive and live in abundance, peace, and love.
- It is up to each of us to empower ourselves and hold ourselves, our organizations, and our governments and institutions accountable for what we/they are doing. We must all live in integrity.
The world is changing and humanity is changing. Humanity has done a wonderful job of creating Hell on earth over the last millenium, and it is now time to change directions and start creating Heaven on earth. We can do that, and we have all the help we need. We only have to set the intention and ask! But we also have to give up our apathy and feelings of futility, and we have to believe and take action!
